About Polyramblers

We are one of the oldest walking clubs in the country, formed in 1885 as a social club of the then Regent Street Polytechnic, now the University of Westminster. We celebrated our 125th anniversary in 2010 and today we are happy to retain our association with the University (although the majority of our current members have no connection with it.) We welcome members of all ages and backgrounds.

With a varied programme and a day walk almost every weekend of the year, we also organise several weekends away each year in the UK and continental Europe. Recent trips include  Killarney in the west of Ireland, Skipton and the YorkshireDales and Matlock and the Peak District.

Our 2017 planned trips  include, snow walking in Oberammergau, Bavaria,  a Youth Hostel weekend in Portland, a spring bank holiday long weekend in the Aosta Valley, Western Alps in Italy, an August bank holiday trip staying in Exeter at the university with walking in and around. We normally have an autumn long weekend away in the UK – details will follow.

All our walks and other activities are based around public transport. Our day walks are mainly around London and the home counties are typically 8-10 miles but can range from 5-15 miles depending on the time of year. Day walks usually include a pub stop for lunch and We also have occasional social events including restaurant and theatre visits.

We are affiliated to the Ramblers (Inner London Area), to HF Holidays and we have full public liability insurance.
