Saturday 31 August 2019: Lewes (Circular)

Gorgeous walk with 3 character-forming climbs but well worth the effort, otherwise undulating grassy paths. Meet Victoria station. Buy Off Peak Day Return to Lewes. Eastbourne train departs 9.16 (Clapham Junction 9.23, East Croydon 9.33) arrives 10.23. Lunch at Abergavenny Arms in Rodmell. Tea, if we keep up a good pace, at Glynde. Many pubs in Lewes at the end with possible free hugs from passing strangers – Lewes is very alternative. Distance 14.6 miles. OL11. Leader: Harriet.

As it’s a long walk with 3 mighty climbs and the tea shop at Glynde is DEFINITELY worth a visit, Harriet suggests that we bring picnic lunch rather than have a pub lunch. The tea shop closes at 4 but will hang on for us if we’re a few minutes late and she lets them know how many & what we might fancy – Cream tea/Home made Cakes etc.
